Technical Operations Lead

Groningen, The Netherlands

Role overview

You will manage our mission-critical infrastructure, tools, and processes that ensure the highest levels of availability, reliability and security of all our Voyager deployments.

The role of Technical Operations Lead is for you if you are comfortable handling major incident responses, are a strong technical team leader and are driven to resolve technical issues across complex and distributed architectures which you co-design, deploy and manage together with your team.

You feel comfortable looking into the source code of our platform and related open source systems to help troubleshoot operational problems. You must work cross-functionally among a variety of teams and be a core contributor in every significant on-premises or cloud deployment of our platform. This includes the coordination with the technical teams of our international customers and partners.

Key responsibilites
  • Day to day operations oversight
  • Daily proactive monitoring and issue detection
  • Incident and problem management with proper global communication
  • Liaison with product team to enhance stability, scalability and monitoring
  • Deploy new software revisions and scale up existing deployments
  • Coordinate new on-site deployments of Voyager with the international technical teams of the customer
  • Oversee integration of new IT projects into operational support processes.
Experience required
  • Computer science degree or equivalent academic or professional background
  • 3 + years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated customer-service and communications skills at management level
  • Strong technical knowledge across a variety of systems, including Linux, NOSQL databases (we use HBase, Cassandra and Titan and related systems like Hadoop, HDFS, Elasticsearch), Docker, Mesos and/or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with running distributed stacks at cloud providers like AWS, Azure or others.

Role overview

As a Big Data Software Engineer you are responsible for the technical design and development of Web-IQ’s Web Intelligence platform Voyager. You will be part of our full-stack Product Team and work together with passionate software developers and data engineers on building scalable architectures and cutting-edge components related to Web crawling and data analyses.

Key responsibilites
  • Design sub-components and contribute to the overall architecture
  • Deliver clean, beautiful and testable code and help others to do the same
  • Contribute to a successful sprint planning
  • Liaison with intel team and customers to include end-user value in your technical decisions and planning
Experience required
  • Computer science degree or equivalent academic or professional background
  • 3+ years of experience in Java programming
  • Experience with operating Linux systems
  • Experience with other parts of our stack or Big Data systems in general is a plus.
